I cant find any documentation on why Anglo were rejected the Rooderand license, however i believe Alta were awarded the license in correlation with the MRPA act. introduced in 2002 which was brought in to award certain existing licenses to black owned mining companies from SA. Can't see the license being taken away from a black owned SA company (Alta) and returned to a massive international company such as Anglo.

Interesting that BAKGATLA BA KGAFELA are a large shareholder in Alta. BAKGATLA BA KGAFELA are also a massive player in the newly formed Newco that has huge platinum fields very close Rooderand.
