Bit of balance required here.
I see it as a positive that the upper management are getting rid of under performing stores. Demographics are changing all the time and companies have to be nimble to change with it. The movement of shiny bums out of H.O. can be seen as nothing but a positive PROVIDED that they are effective out in the field. I just hope that there is more emphasis placed on face to face staff.
The advertising campaign has more maturity about it. Hopefully the days of Cheep cheep and some dumb ass ad of kids dancing down an aisle in sixties gear are gone forever. The fact that Woolies have publicly stated that they will look after their suppliers better is a huge plus, now they have to back the words up with deeds. Hopefully the past arrogance has also been dispatched to the dump.
I also see it as a positive that there is competition from the likes of Aldi. Think to the airline industry, when the industry was deregulated the consumer won out in the end and the airlines became far more lean. Sure Ansett folded but that was more due to total mismanagement by a bunch of morons. I can't see that happening with Woolies as the management seem to be far more proactive than reactive.
You will ALWAYS get nay sayers.....that is the nature of some people. Far easier to be problem centred thinking than solution centred thinking. Having a good old whinge takes very little effort or brains for that matter.
I remain positive about Woolies...I feel that the current CEO will bring about change however it will take time. Sadly in this day and age people expect everything to be instant and there is very little patience left.
