G'day Gaffa,
Short answer is yes and yes.
I was originally attracted by something I read on a plane in-flight mag, to do with SpermSep. Later I saw the benefits of the blood technology for the developing world and was impressed (taken in?) by what the former directors presented on a national roadshow. Those same former directors appear to have blotted their copybook based on the ASIC findings as reported and put the new regime to a lot of extra work to satisfy the regulator going forward, not to mention additional unplanned (at the time they took over) expense.
I am impressed by our currrent Chair. Some may say she was handed a poisoned chalice and set up to fail. No doubt there have been learnings and growth for her along the way. What can't be denied is that she has a real vision for the future success of this comapny, a determination to achieve that vision and she has already successfully mended bridges with the academic community and won their support.
For mine (and I have taken the time to chat to her from time to time on the phone and to meet her in person too) she is a very smart lady who now has significant skin in the game. She will not be an "easy beat" for the weasels in Singapore who have attempted to bring our company down...which would have seen us long term investors do our dough.
I am also impressed with the tenacity of our largest shareholder, though I have not yet met him or had a conversation with him. Hopefully I'll get to do so at the AGM later this year if not before.
So is there a reasonable guarantee of success? Of course not, as this is a speculative bio stock. But I'd much rather invest in a stock like this that can potentially make a difference if it succeeds and pay a very handsome dividend indeed if it does than put my money on a racehorse.
I'm not a trader and this is now potentially my largest or second largest speculative position. I started very small and have averaged down by continuously buying along the way. If it plays out the way I hope I could even be in the black later in the week....but I won't ever invest in a spec stock money I can't afford to lose. In short I think it's a good bet (as I assume does Prof John Aitken, who was last year prepared to convert consulting fees as per the relevant ANN).
