Consolidations in general are bad for investors, the majority decline in price/market cap following consolidation.
It comes down to market psychology, the market is used to the price being lower so tends to be reluctant to buy at the consolidated price, also it reduces liquidity as there are less shares on issue than pre-consolidation.
Consolidation is also used by a lot of penny dreadfuls to give more space for further capital raisings with the dilutionary impact that has on existing shareholders.
