Yes, hard to fathom. If not that, then it looks like someone may have been "manipulating", or there's something already announced to the market? .. Re the latter the only known but indefinite statement I can think of that might be relevant is from the letter to shareholders last year re another possible capital return "within the next 12 months."
That statement (see aug 11 2015) was so indefinite, and couched in "maybes" and "consideration" if there was "cash surplus to requirements" , that it's hard to believe yesterdays action was in anticipation of that. But maybe. GLAH
