Most people seem to think mining stocks are a con, because they are. Even with joint venture partners many mining stocks crater eg. BAU with 2 large Chinese partners and a massive acreage in WA, dead as a dead dogs donger. CTP will triple turnover in 12 months due to NGP, a $20 million free carry in QLD, huge tax write offs, paying down debt, Newcrest gas powered Tanimi Gold power station near their doorstep, and Dukas free carry with Santos with multi tcf of gas and helium, yet the share price is much less than the takeover bid from a few years ago, when the gas was stranded.

Only good for a tax write off unless a miracle happens.

and chinese companies landbanking mineral resources on the cheap for future profits - profits for them. finite resources are just that - finite. price of gold is a perfect example - price constantly beaten down to near average cost of production or less. someones going to profit bigtime in the future and it aint us average smalltime investors
