Congratulations on finding some of the more intelligent posters on hotcopper. I strongly disagree with your sentiments above and I think this is specifically what @travelightor was alluding to in his posts on this thread. Specifically, if other posters’ arguments caused you to do deeper due diligence which reaffirmed your decision making there’s is no harm done. However, if the mere fact that an accomplished/respectable poster owns a stock increases your confidence in an investment, this is often a pathway to poor performance.
I would encourage you to develop your own individual model of each stock you purchase and the assumptions driving your buy in price and then evaluate where things went wrong in your assumptions. You can then upgrade your model for next time and learn from the process. Conversely if you using someone else’s models you forego this opportunity.
