i.e. would you rather be invested in an industry that's growing at 0.2% CAGR, or 20% CAGR in the case of Lithium?
Let's say gold demand grows at CAGR of 0.2% and supply declines at CAGR of 0.2%, and let's say Li demand grows at CAGR of 20% and supply grows at CAGR of 20% - then which would you rather. Looking at demand growth in isolation means nothing.
Esh chose to compare the Gold and Lithium markets, not specific projects.
Obviously he is looking at specific projects. You can't even trade physical Li (it's part of why he hates it haha)
Is there any ASX listed gold project (or indeed any other commodity project) currently in development that can boast a similar IRR or better?
There are multiple points on this.
1. The costs that every single Li company have put in their feasabilities look like BS so far.
2. A SS is +/-35% that is pretty big swings
3. If gold miners used prices 25% above current market price in their FS studies (ala POG at US$1,600) you would have some insane IRR's
