I have been able to gather a little intelligence on the dissenting group after making a few phone calls over the Christmas break.A few points I would like to share.

The make-up of the group is a loose assemblage of anti-development anarchists and those who by their consultative work would financially benefit from the elevation of a project to the status requiring Ecological assessment.

 The group doe's not enjoy widespread community support,in fact the presence a few individuals in particular deemed highly undesirable.

Hence the 'Stop the Cangai Mine' campaign is an attempt to remain financially viable by going further afield in gathering support as the level of support within the local community has all but evaporated.

Engagement with these individuals would require some thought as consultation via normal means would be effectively useless.
