You're carrying on like Chicken Little. IF it was that environmentally sensitive they wouldnt have been granted ELs. Hardly zero value given the grades so far. All they have to do is comply with the environmental aspects of the ELs. Not that hard.
Pretty stupid of management, given they knew of the existence of the Anti Mine group , that they didnt shore everything up properly to avoid getting dobbed in for breaches. They'll know now.
And whenever a mine starts up anywhere that isnt in the desert, there is always a protest group of some sort by default. That doesnt mean anything by itself.
