They may have been fully funded for drilling, but they may also want to push for a more advanced drilling campaign to quantify the resource more quickly (as they like what they see so far), or they may have only been talking about their current tenements prior to the addition of additional ground at Mulligan.

Capital raise is inevitable for these sorts of companies, the fact that large investors are interested is a big bonus, imo derisks the project relevant to what the average investor would be able to infer as large investors will talking directly with the business to drill down to what it's worth and long-term prospects.
