So if there is a group of investors working hard to force the price down so they can profit from shorting, are this group related to whoever wants the price low for a takeover opportunity?
I say this because if there is a take over offer announced it will send the share price soaring. This will happen in an instant, probably after a trading halt meaning shorters will suffer 3rd degree burns to 95% of their body. I find this an extremely unlikely scenario.
So if these two groups are in cahoots then I would expect a rapid drop in % of stock shorted as the tell for a takeover. Along with the entire rest of the market.
SYR is not getting a surprise takeover. It will be telegraphed obviously.
