When you are tripping pipe out of a hole, and have no logging tools, then of course the pipe will be covered in oil from the various fractures on the way back out.
It doesn't mean there is a continuous 790ft oil column (obvious to some), even though that's how they wanted the mugs to believe it was, like some conventional miracle (in fractured shale).
