An interesting technology. The one donside is that it assumes that you can identify the seed before it is planted. Once this happens the plant produces multiply numbers of "unidentified seeds" which can then be freely sold or used in production.

The real money in this area is in the ownership of the genetic trait that for instance produces a sweeter tomato etc etc. I am sure that there is some upside to the ability to id the seeds but most of the id is commercially protected at the marketing end.
