Congratulations to those who held IIN after their recent drops (yes, I'm patting myself on the back for being amonsgt that group). I sold off all my IIN at $8.67 this morning. Even thought I'd rate the risk of a downside due to an ACCC knockback to be small, I thought cashing in now at a higher price to TPM's cash offer seemed the safe thing to do. There's a chance I'll regret this decision should IIN receive an even better offer, but SGT seem to be the most likely alternative buyer, and Amused Observer raises a very strong point as to why this is unlikely.
Congratulations also to TPM. I think the timing of this offer was smart - money at the moment is cheap and it's hard to imagine an offer of $8.60 would have been seriously considered by the IIN board 6 months ago. The significant subscriber boost (perhaps IIN's most valuable "asset") should also allow TPM to make the most of their substantial network investments.
Now my only interest here remains as a customer of Internode - I'm hoping to not experience much of a change in service, but I can always churn over to TPG should it come to that
