Had an interesting conversation with my brother in law, whose is into cycling in a big way and whose brother is a professional cyclist overseas.
He said that while carbon fibre bikes tend to be strong they tend to have no give and so will develop cracks quite often over time. They are also really expensive.
Aluminium bikes are a lot cheaper but are a harder ride with less shock absorption capabilities and so aren't great to ride.
I asked him about titanium bikes and he said that he thinks they will be the next big thing in cycling if they can somehow get the price down, which they can as we know
