On p3 of the recent Investor Presentation the 3-base method is explained. It occurs prior to the PCR test and modifies the microbial DNA present in a patient sample. After that a standard PCR reaction occurs. There is no reason why it shouldn't be applicable to all types of infectious disease PCR testing (virtually all infections are caused by microbes).

Multiplex PCR detects multiple pathogens in one test and this has inherent challenges (as opposed to detecting one pathogen in a test). As you should see from MLO, it is a relatively recent development. 3-base technology is one approach to address the challenges of multiplex PCR by reducing the complexity of the target DNA.
