In my opinion it is more like this?

The geologist attempts to write something understandable. Following a rare consultation with the geologist, the MD adds bits (usually embellishments like "open at depth", "open in all directions", "untested potential"), takes bits out (usually words like "limited", "medium grade", "restricted", "restrained by..."), and the media consultant adds pointless quotes like "Managing Director, Billy Big-Boots says that the results vindicate my belief in the potential of this project for a major discovery".

And then the geologist is sent back to the bush and the MD goes to a conference to tell everyone how clever he/she is.
