Has anyone ever asked these guys why they named their company after the Caldera to the south ?
I'd be interested if there was a geological reasoning behind it.
But then from my recent readings theres not much on why these brines and there sources r so rich.
Essentially Glns Hydrogeo work will be an essential cog in understanding how this salar and its potential feeder channels have been fed themselves.
Now I'm not trying to change Ur ideas on this geomorphology Mattilla, u r most likely correct with how the Paleo channel has developed.
What interests me is whether or not Cerro Galan (why DID the company name itself this ) is geologically TODAY a potential hydrothermal brine feeder of this channel. The basic geology with Los Patos and its tributaries flanking Cerro Galan would suggest that ANY hydrothermal activity on the northern side of C. Galan would fi d its way into this basin and then into Galens paleochannel.
