I am sure if you are caught short with funds you can ask or sue asx for the difference if you are made to sell at a loss, I have had before on cr share purchase where the aussie side (as I am in nz) failed to process my purchase and they later brought the shares on market for a higher price for my portfolio.

real mess though, asx should just have left if and apologised for muck up. did sell today but now back in my portfolio, try tomorrow, maybe...
