When MCO produced their first gold, irrespective of the quantum, the mill was in a virgin state. - not impregnated. By this I mean that all the little crevices/nooks and crannies (gold traps) in the circuit were not filled with heavy mineral (mainly gold). Once these “traps” are filled all material then flows across them and recoveries become constant. There would have been a significant amount of gold locked in the circuit that would only be recovered during a clean up or de-commissioning. The amount of gold that MCO produced would have been much higher had the mill been subjected to a period of pre-commissioning. AUL have the benefit of the latter situation.
