Before I get into more detail about the hearing here is your formula: PDN shares will have to increase in value 50x to get your money back from 2% retention. For me that is a sp of around $45 plus! It is all relative.
PDN can run out of funds left over from the $115M and fizzle out like Mirabela ie under care and maintenance. However it will all depend on how the market reacts to trading again. LHM has never run at a profit yet PDN was a darling of the market and in the top 100 on the ASX and got to around $10 when spot price got really high. The latter is unlikely, in fact it is unlikely to exceed the all in cash costs at LHM in the near future.
If the market sees PDN cleared of its major debts and speculation takes hold there will be buyers. Now we have a potential hedge fund (members of the ad hoc committee and Deutsche Bank) owning its own company with 98% of all shares. Don't forget they too are justified in wanting to get their money back. They have 98% of last market cap ie $80.5M (although the DOCA says they have 98% of zero). If the market started around last price say 5c, then by dribbling small parcels onto the market and trading between themselves and at the same time sucking in the public, we could see a gradual rise in sp. It will need to be a subtle process to not raise question by the ASX. Initial climb to a sp of $1 would not be unjustified given the sp history of PDN and having now cleared the major debts. Not bad work to end up with $1.7B market cap. Where could it end?
Such a high price and beyond could be used to sustain LHM by selling off the required number of shares when necessary. Should LHM become profitable then bonanza for the ahc! If it started off low enough I would be tempted to buy in if only just to hopefully cover my loss but would I be stupid enough to risk PDN again?
The fact that we have just learned that D Bank was able to on sell part or all of EDF's claim suggests to me that someone is confident of getting their money back with profit. The only other reason for buying an on sold debt would be to create a deliberate loss for taxation purposes. If and when PDN trades again we will soon find out.
