Here is what ASIC have said about listings on the ASX by companies from developing countries.
"Any such wave of Chinese listings would reinforce the need for investors to be cautious, a point the Australian Securities and Investments Commission made in August with a report warning of the challenges many emerging market listings face in implementing good corporate governance, risk management, and disclosure practices.
There are no areas of systemic concern for Australian investors in Australian stocks, but the growing number of listed companies exposed to or based in emerging markets required investors to be aware, ASIC said."
It would seem at the moment that a lot of people are heeding their advice for caution.
It is up to the companies to break through this by displaying completely open and transparent governance, risk management, and disclosure practices.
