Your SLR critique is pretty spot on  - I'd forgotten the history , but you're probably right.

You may not be aware but only the road from Cannon across the TransLine (and the expensive crossing) is "new". The majority of the section from the main road to South Kal was put in circa 2000 - 2001 to allow ore from out past TransFind to be trucked along the rail easement until it had to turn south. This was in the Hampton - Bond Gold days.
