Santos is not trying to blackmail anyone. They are simply stating the obvious. There had been ample gas for NSW before the gas is being sold to international market. That has changed. Without any domestic gas reservation, why on earth would they withhold gas for domestic use when they can sell it for a lot more piping it to Gladstone? Santos is not a charity organisation. They pay royalties and taxes, and they put up the money and took on the risk upfront to discover the gas resource. These accusations are misdirected at Santos. They should directed to the relevant state government.
