There's no Fairweather field, guessing you mean Fairview. You can roughly equate 1 TJ/d with 1 MMscfd so 0.74 TJ/day is roughly 740 Mscfd, not 74.

But according to Santos's last presentation the average gas capacity is 2 TJ per day, or roughly 2 MMscfd. I am guessing you're looking at an old source.

STX shouldn't need to get rates that high to break even but you can see it will need to be a lot higher than 100 Mscfd.

Fair point. With the connection cost, it surely wouldn't be as much as QLD since MAPS runs right over the top of PEL96?

Well MAPS is flowing the wrong way so they can't really use that pipeline if they want to send gas to Moomba. But regardless the issue isn't just the transmission pipeline but the gathering system. Each of the wells drilled needs to be connected to the gas processing facility which quickly adds up to an awfully large number of line km of pipe - particularly if they use wellhead separators and then need both water and gas gathering systems.

There are some big differences between Qld and Cooper, in the Cooper they should have a much easier time laying gathering pipelines by the shortest route, instead of having to accommodate snarky landowners like in Qld, but conversely it's going to cost a hell of a lot more to get anything happening that far away from the logistics networks.

we have another 60+m of coal above what is being tested now, which I believe looks pretty good also

Guessing you mean the Toolachee coals? I don't think there is actually any gas in those coals. I have seen core data from other areas around there and there is nothing there. No doubt that's why STX focused on the much deeper Patchawarra coals.
