Just be a little cautious putting to much hope in the Bolsonaro effect. The best govt's & companies in the world take local communities along with them. Bolsonaro will be a regulatory god send to miners but if he shuts outs the indigenous voice & rides roughshod over them there will be a huge global backlash, massive civil unrest locally & a dangerous & uncertain environment for those miners & oil companies constituting a new type of sovereign risk. We saw exactly the same thing happen down here in Tassie when the state govt was too close to Gunns & through its own deceit & bad governance turned a once supportive community against the pulp mill project on a massive scale. And Bolsonaro appears to be on a whole other level than the Tasmanian Lennon govt. Bolsonaro has already signed an executive order or decree, which immediately shifted responsibility for indigenous land demarcation from FUNAI, the Brazilian government’s Indigenous Affairs office, to the pro-agribusiness Ministry of Agriculture and the indigenous communities are pissed off
Just a thought.
