@Rptay. It's a good cautionary tale you tell. I agree, it is...

@Rptay. It's a good cautionary tale you tell. I agree, it is often hard to determine what private companies are doing in the tech space... which can lead to assumptions and exaggerated claims about innovation among publically-listed companies.

That said, SMX is looking pretty good to me, despite the retrace (no pun intended).

DDT appears on the ropes; its microdot tech may have had its day and it looks to be relying on social media and the like to promote its DataTraceID system. Applied DNA Sciences (ADNAS.com) may hold more promise, but its focus appears largely on fibre tech applications, notwithstanding its ambitions to do much more. A competitor in the private space is Polysecure.eu, which uses micro/nano crystalline particles or ceramic powder markers with a robust encoding system, but as the name suggests, its focus is on polymer technologies and lifecycle issues.

SMX bring it all together: with immutable 'chemical' markers that can be built into the product itself ('sand to silicon') that perform in liquids, solids or gases (I assume they use isotopic markers) and that are secured by unique algorithms and block chain technology.

The Patent section of the SMX Prospectus is illuminating (pp 77-92), as are the patent arrangement with Isorad Ltd and Soreq (all under the auspices of the Israeli Atomic Energy Commission). The fact that SMX's patent estate is growing in partnership with Soreq and that the company relies so heavily on this highly regarded research institution for its commercial future, speaks volumes for the tech and the team pushing it forwards (including their Chief Scientist, Dr Yair Grof, formerly with Soreq), but also of the advisory board, headed by Maj. Gen. Ami Shafran (res.), former head of Electronic Warfare and Cyber Defence for the IDF (a connection that suggests the significance of the IPP/Intel collaboration, and of his related role with ELS).

The potential in this sector is hard to ignore and SMX is ticking all the boxes for me. @Rptay, I can't answer your question about why the ASX and not the Tel Aviv Exchange, but that's not a deal breaker for me. There's lots of possible explanations; it could be as simple as networks and opportunity.... which, come to think of it, is what brought me here. GLTAH R-7
