Skf provide extensive wifi networks to large venues to provide data collection for those venues so that they can better understand their customer profiles.
That data would be the property of the venues, not skyfi, although I'm sure they would be able to use the algonerated data for their own research into the best premises to roll of wifi etc.
How the venue owners use that data is up to them, and not skyfi.
If they could find a way of offering their customers a way of putting that data into some sort of system that engages with those customers (does skyfi have such a platform?), then they will be able to monetize.
I like wifi as a hook to acquire data from customers but do we have any visibility on the number of people who take it up (most people have data plans already) and if so, how many of them then use it multiple times?
I've recently been reading about beacon technology as an alternative/adjunct in the U.S. and wondered if that was on the horizon here in Australia. Anyone know?
