    KAI have done well to get this far and it's great that they're gonna hit it with a drill bit. The cong. gold deposits are extremely extensive and there's gonna be bucketloads of colluvial nuggets around which is why the tone of my post was a bit nonchalant. I've always said that I reckon you'll be able to get some measure of the grade if you use a big enough drill bit and very close-spaced grouped drill patterns.

    The biggest variables are the density of the nuggets within the host rock (grade), the continuity of that grade and the cross-dip width that you'll be able to mine before the stripping ratio renders it subeconomic. At the moment the data from Comet Well suggests it's ~30cm thick at about 15g/t. As I said this will vary greatly especially perpendicular to the palaeocurrent 'downstream' direction if that's a thing, i.e. continuity.

    If they can access say 200m of dip-width, for a km of strike that's:

    1000m x 200m x 0.3m x 2.7?(SG) x 80% (discontinuity factor) x 0.5 (oz/t == 15g/t) = 64,800oz per km strike, but this number is a very rough estimate (obviously).

    That's my guess at how you might quantify a cong. gold deposit based on what I've seen. Just my insightful opinion from the 'wise sage'.
