Doesn't look like he's scraping the ground one “layer” at a time. Looks to me like the machine is digging to depth and pulling up. Kindo like you were describing how this multiple layer system needs to be sampled or mined. Looks like he's sitting on top of an Italian rum cake and he wants every layer.
QH described multiple layers. Wits. Had 26layers. Is QH looking to find more layers to prove a Wits analog by finding more layers? Not sure but thought I'd throw that thought in here. I agree that he is more likely trying to find the best place to determine an average grade. Egina may be the key to unlocking the puzzle. Maybe we can get @Lemand to chime in on more details about the pic.
