ASIC are pretty much useless and will do little more than accept a complaint and then put it in the bin and hide behind the "we can't confirm anything blah blah dont want to scare the market blah blah blah". The costs behind shareholders pursuing legal action, being able to prove something in court, and then seek any damages awarded really prevents it happening so similar situations like this happen over and over again.

It is pretty scary how little actual regulation there is in the market and how little protection there is offered to shareholders.
