It didn't change; it's a completely different company that just happens to have bought some of the WHN assets. When that happened, you became an owner of QFY securities by default. The share value at QFY's takeover was the price they paid you for the remaining WHN assets. When you held onto them you essentially invested in a whole different company. You haven't held these stocks for 8 years - you held WHL stocks which were converted to QFY stocks around 2016/2017 and at least saw you walk away with some value from WHN's failure.
I'm not going to defend the management of QFY to date. They've seemed hopelessly unprepared for what it takes to take something from IP to market traction. It's a long and bumpy ride that few make it through and that requires a long period of capital support. But then that's the nature of tech start-ups.
I hope for you that you eventually do well from these stocks. It sounds like you got burnt with WHN, and I wish well for you in doing better in your future investments.
