Over 70% of shareholders have an unmarketable parcel of shares in CNN.
Personally I'd rather management concentrated on the business at hand, growing it, increasing its revenue and ultimately becoming profitable and then the share price and the problem of having so many shareholders holding unmarketable parcels would take care of themselves without having to lose up to 70% of your shareholders in the process.
I have an unmarketable share parcel as things stand having reduced my holding to be more in line with the number of shares I hold in every other company in my share portfolio, but in CNN's case I will be selecting the option of maintaining my unmarketable parcel waiting for two things to happen.
Firstly, for CNN to significantly raise its revenue and become profitable and secondly, for the share price to appreciate significantly from its current bargain basement level which would then justify a further investment on my part some time down the line.
I see the announcement of a share sale facility for unmarketable parcels being the first step of a two part strategy which includes a share consolidation.
I hope I am wrong as I am no fan of share consolidations, but it looks like that is where they are heading by my reckoning.
