Well, if he really does want a piece of the pie, surely a ~$1M investment in MRF for ~20M fpo is a reasonable place to start, especially while price is so depressed. By doing this they'd also have a stake in another 10M options, which, if they believe in the story, is a cheap leverage play on future success.
Will be interesting to see if FEC are the type of company that will back-up their bullish talk and buy, on-market with their own money; or if any stake in MRF is merely going to arise from placing shares for the company and the like, aka "advisory fees". I think more would probably step-up if they saw FEC buying on-market, not that it's the be-all for future success.
