Very true - but that is the lot of resource company . Spend like crazy when you are making money and cost cut only when things are tight . Irrespective of the correction prices are still solid relative to where they started. BHP mining KI at all , at a time when prices were so much lower highlights the quality of the asset.
Not the first time a major has let go a great asset only to see a junior make hundreds of millions from it
