Sounds like the partner was using some predatory sign up practices to their own customers, signing them up to something they may not want, pay for the first month or two, hoping to hook them and then chucking out the users that didn't convert or complained or opted out.
DSE mgmt should have understood the sort of marketing campaign they were using, especially since they were promoting the the user growth.
Did they learn, will it happen again?
