It's unfortunate, but it really comes down to the global price of lithium more than anything. Once all the major car manufacturers announced they would be going completely EV, the lithium miners ramped up production, without really considering just how long the process of migrating completely to EV would actually take, coupled with the scaling back of EV in China due to the removal of incentives...

The result is an oversupply of lithium, when the demand isn't there yet. The demand will be there, but it isn't just yet. In March this year lithium was trading at over $24,000 per tonne, it's now trading at around $13,000 per tonne, so it's almost halved in value.

If you're looking for a quick buck, lithium isn't what you should be looking at right now. Come back in 6 months once all the dust settles and demand had caught up with supply.
