9TH EUROPEAN BIOPLASTICS CONFERENCE – PROGRAMME PREVIEW DRIVING A RESOURCE EFFICIENT EUROPE 2/3 DECEMBER 2014 AT THE SQUARE MEETING CENTRE, BRUSSELS Bioplastics’ contribution and opportunities within the biobased economy, latest performance & material innovations, as well as 2nd generation feedstock trends for bioplastic applications will be discussed at the 9th European Bioplastics Conference in Brussels – the leading industry event in Europe. We are happy to announce the keynote this year will be held by Prof. Dr. Helmut Maurer (European Commission DG Environment), who will introduce the EU waste management agenda and what role bioplastics may take in the context of the Commission’s Circular Economy Package. This will be followed by a comprehensive session highlighting relevant policy aspects - from the use of renewable sources to the implementation of a biorefinery concept. Highlights to look out for: Latest updates on 2nd & 3rd generation feedstock – are they already reality today? The conference features several presentations of scientists and manufacturers discussing the potential and introducing new applications. Is transparency ensured? A panel of industry, policy and NGO experts from all the world regions active in bioplastics (Americas, Asia, Europe) will discuss the different standards, methods, and labels in place – common ground, cross-boundary challenges, and ways of long-term harmonization. Moreover, European Bioplastics will present the newest bioplastics market data (compiled by the scientific partners nova Institut and IfBB (Institute for Bioplastics and Biocomposites).
