Here's a change of pace for those being tested by the last few days of relentless tiresome posts...
Yesterday, I was nursing my exposed and raw investment decisions watching the SP getting hit (although it's not too bad considering) and seeing my portfolio balance decline, feeling how long it takes to earn and how quickly it can crumble. I'm holding long so no big deal there, but I think most people can share that feeling at least.
I switched my phone on as I left the airport in Beijing and was being driven to the hotel, checking the current SP and attempting to read some posts on HC to pass the time. It was another disgusting, smoggy, polluted day in Beijing. The traffic was horrendous, leaving the main airport area and turning straight into the standard China traffic jam that exists pretty much all over Chinese cities at any given time. Crawling along at a snails pace unable to go much faster as the forward visibility was so poor. Bumper to bumper, cars everywhere spilling CO2, that same unhealthy Beijing smell (if youve ever been to Beijing, you know it), the dry trees and surrounding plants a bland grey colour, like the forest in the Blair witch project or any other horror film. I'm groaning and rolling my eyes and thinking of how much I detest this environment and knowing the extraordinary rates of lung cancer in China. 600-700K diagnosis per year, by far the biggest killer of Chinese people and rising so fast. I wish I had shares with same growth rates as lung cancer in China.
The it hits me, perhaps I can, perhaps we all can, perhaps its happening right now. There was no better advertisement for an EV revolution and change to electrical storage and the reduction of fossil fuel burn than any given day in China. If there is any place that has to change, needs to change and of course with time, will change, it's China. Now before you all start to remind me that it's Korea that we are trying to sell our goodies to, I know that. There's plenty of evidence of poor human and environmental health in Korea too...and in Europe, US, all of Asia and Australia and so on...
My rant stops now, but my worry for the drop in SP and my concerns for AUZ and it's future were quickly and forcefully set aside by seeing with my own eyes how bad things are but knowing how good things can be when big industry get their hands on our world class resources and start a cleaner future.
Thanks for listening.
