i can only assume it is short sellers closing their shorts - at a loss.
quite a story this one - Lazard was against until the last moment when considering the general poor market they decided on the cash - if the market rise came just a day sooner maybe they would have stuck to their guns?
either way i am quite happy to take the cash as there are lots of buying opps out there now.
