I don't think there is much in this for CTN holders apart from the consideration of $13m that will be freed up by the sale of CAML. We holders could be forgiven for suspecting that, of late, the fund managers may have been distracted by matters of more pressing personal concern. I don't care who manages the CTN funds, nor in what vehicle they do it, just so long as they improve on the recent performance. Hopefully they can get on with the job now. Presumably, under the new arrangement, it will be easier for the board of CTN to sack the managers if they do not perform.
The fact that this was announced on Brexit result day might just be coincidence but it sure is a good day to bury an announcement if that is what anyone wanted to do. I note that there doesn't seem to be any mention in the announcement of any benefit for CTN holders.
It was always going to be distracting day, but our market along with all the rest have now gone into full scale headless chook mode. The sky is falling , where can I run to?
Other than that a Brexit is an unanticipated result, why should the market regard it as such a net negative for Australia? A general blow to global confidence I suppose.
The poms certainly took the gloss of my weekend, I hope they are happy with what they have done.
If Cameron had had any brains, and wasn't so over confident, he would have said that this is so important they ought to have runoff vote in two months time to see if they really want to do it. I am guessing that there is a lot of inward sucking of breath going on in the UK now as they contemplate the effect of the instantly devalued pound and 10% fall in the stock market. And the Scots will be right pissed off. Every electoral district north of the boarder voted to stay. The EU might as well pull the plug on the whole idea now. Germany who has been the chief beneficiary of the project, has played hard ball once too often. Talk about over playing your hand. Miscalculation all round, on about that same scale as thinking that they could defeat Russia in six weeks.
