I've been doing some research on Tony Mahoney, mainly to get an idea as to how he operates & if he has the resources to grow Freshero as per their plans.
As has already been said, he spent 10 years at Woolworths in senior positions (fresh foods), he then became CEO of Freshmax growing that from $15m sales to over $400m in the almost 10 years he was there.
In Nov 2015 he established Nutrano. Initially buying the banana division from Oakville (Moraitis group). He developed that, notably developing a daily trade into Singapore which rapidly grew. He developed a retail "Farm to Table" JV in Singapore. He established a direct wholesale supply relationship into a very large supermarket chain in Hong Kong. In October 2016 Nutrano acquired Seven Fields and Abbotsleigh group for about $90m. He looked at floating Nutrano in 2017 to raise $45m. That didn't go ahead & it remained a private company. An article in the Australian at the time said Nutrano had a calandar 2017 revenue of $210m & an EBITDA of $15.5m
As you can see, he gets things done quickly, doesn't seem to have any problems raising money, and has good connections in Singapore + Hong Kong along with his Australian connections. I can see this being a great partnership - just hope Mahoney doesn't realise how cheap we are and take us over!
