Hello again Parma, I hope you are well
Wall Street straightened up a bit last night so we might be levelling out to ‘fly right’ over here in Australia today?
...I looked for some more news on RIO which didn’t elicit any. : /
As a recap:
From August 1 https://www.smh.com.au/business/com...lbara-mine-a-step-closer-20180801-p4zuwl.html
..”Rio Tinto will now begin engineering work, the development of a rail construction camp and the first stage of the Koodaideri accommodation camp.
_________
“Rio also said that Pilbara sustaining capital would be about $1 billion over each of the next three years, including replacement mines at
West Angelas,
Robe Valley and
Koodaideri, with the latter still to be formally approved.”
Here’s the Koodaideri camp ( I think pictures wereposted earlier as well )- it looks well and truly up and running .
(The photo is from BG&E - another (enormous sounding) Perth-based civil infrastructure competitor company owned by employees )

A reminder on rail (also from way back June ....surely we are due for more updates !)
“World’s second largest miner Rio Tinto (ASX, LON, NYSE:RIO) said Monday it will begin developing its Koodaideri iron ore mine in Western Australia's Pilbara region next year, highlighting parallel plans to de-bottleneck rail capacity, which should increase it to 360 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) in 2019”............
New rail line likely to be around 180 km as per http://www.scopeaust.com.au/project/koodaideri-rail-options-study/
(Adding 143 km of intended rail by FMG possibly results in the 300km spoken of by Jules in his address at the AGM last week when referring to outlook.https://hotcopper.com.au/documentdownload?id=uOMxKKzFkiWRTLKhOROKAxjvTDYD4g69zxaZruBxke92GA==
“Outlook
• Currently bidding work for replacement tonnes programs (Iron Ore).
• Scope of works include 300km of new rail to construct and
multiple Brownfield and Greenfield projects.
• Directly addressable opportunities (earthworks and concrete)
circa $2.5 billion over four years (ex South Flank).”
