I think Greatland have to go that deep because that is where the resource starts and all above is just cover(sand & ?).
Whereas AZY and SRI have only a very shallow cover compared to others therefore they start to hit the minerals at a shallower depth. Cheaper to drill and mine but they still have to find where the deposits are.
