I’m not quite sure I follow.
To my mind there here are two main methods of finding ideas
1) stock screeners which could be based on anything but usually fundamental valuation.
2) through exposure, which could be from a newspaper article, experience with software at work, reading someone else’s analysis, a friend mentioning a stock etc etc etc this could either be directly, or indirectly ie thinking about a theme and then finding companies that might help ‘play the theme’.
a stock isnt isn’t going to just pop into anyone’s mind. When I think about the last idea ‘i’ Had, it was evs which I’d been following for a little while after hearing Andrew page mention it about 6 months ago. It’s then obviously a process to decide whether one likes the companies prospects and thinks its well valued. I certainly don’t think I’ve got any special talent for idea generation, quite the contrary.
