To answer the first part of last question. They didn't get any records. They set up a webpage and asked shareholders to Register their details which included telephone and e-mail. They also searched the white pages and had a 1 in 10 hit rate for shareholders who where in the phone book.
If you want some tips. Tip No 1. Board & Management (B &M) read HotCopper, therefore don't telegraph your intentions. Tip No 2. Put yourselves in their shoes and image you are the board and the shareholders are out to make you accountable. Tip No 3 Google Search from the perspective of the B & M. eg How to manage angry shareholders. You will find it will lead you to all sorts of tips for B & M in protecting their jobs and salaries. Tip No 4 Read the Corporations Act ( Cwealth) as it relates to obtaining a share register,, S249D meeting, S249F meetings, S203D. Once you have read them, google search and find where it has been done before.
To answer the 2nd part of the last question. I suggest you contact the convening shareholders for MLM recent General Meeting. There details are on the Notice of Meeting. HotCopper is not the place to discuss but it can be done cheaply if you have the right advice (which is the hard part) But it can be done but it's bloody hard when fighting well financed and advised B & M who hold all the cards and more.
