Bob, I am fully aware I am just some punter and all my comments on the future are no better than reading tea leaves (or coffee grinds for me).
I think all apple will need is to test the product. If it passes the tests, apple bids. There are so many companies who would want to own this tech; intel, sony, taiwan semiconductor, apple, samsung, google. All the companies would want to own audiopixels, the question is, at what price? If one company bids, then I suspect others will also bid. Even if some smaller company bids, that will force apple to bid, or risk missing out on getting a big competitive advantage. Apple makes good profit on phones and the phones are the hook for bringing people onto the apple ecosystem. If, say samsung, ends up owning the app tech, then that will lead to apple selling fewer phones relative to samsung, which means its ecosystem doesn't grow as much. Apple wants to move into medical tech too. perhaps the audiopixels may help with that, but realistically, the sound performance is what will make companies want to buy AKP/
