My conclusion is that it is difficult to make money from shorting in the Australian stockmarket due to:
1. Market direction over the long term is up.
2. Costs of borrowing stock to short.
3. Stock downside is limited to 100%, but upside is unlimited.
4. Takeover bids.
I do not see anything to suggest CDM in particular can overcome the above headwinds.
