I think you're confusing the roles of the ASX and ASIC. The ASX will issue a request for information based on unusual volumes or rapid increases in shareprice, they are looking for signs of market manipulation and the first port of call is asking the company do they know if there is something causing the change in trading behaviour. Ineffective directors & senior execs who are in breach of their fiduciary responsibility is the domain of ASIC and covers all companies, not just those listed on the ASX. Directors and senior management salaries are not governed by australian companies law, it's a matter for you as a shareholder to speak up if you're unhappy about the gravy train some execs treat themselves to. Vote against the Rem report, vote against reelection of directors, get in contact with the company if you're not happy with how your company is being run.
